Sub-processors
Third parties that process customer data on TextSend's behalf, and two vendors that deliberately are not sub-processors.
Last updated · Operated by Ampliat LLC
1. Amazon Web Services
- Role: infrastructure sub-processor (Amazon Web Services, Inc.).
- Purpose: hosting, database, and storage for the TextSend service.
- Data categories: every category of data TextSend handles passes through Amazon Web Services infrastructure at some point in processing. Message bodies pass through only transiently, for the duration of processing. Phone numbers and operational metadata are stored as database records. Credentials are held only in TextSend's own secret store, on an encrypted storage volume.
- Region: us-east-1 (N. Virginia), United States.
- Notes: no shared account key is used, and no secret value is carried in TextSend's deployment configuration or software images. See the security page.
2. Zendesk
- Role: Marketplace distribution sub-processor.
- Purpose: distributes TextSend through the Zendesk Marketplace, runs the Marketplace checkout, and reports your subscription state to TextSend.
- Data categories: billing and subscription state (plan, trial, payment status); OAuth-scoped access to your own Zendesk tickets, users, and comments, used to write the private SMS/MMS transcript.
- Region: your own Zendesk instance and region, under your existing Zendesk contract. TextSend does not choose or control this.
- Notes: payments are processed by Stripe; see below. See the terms of service.
3. Stripe: not a TextSend sub-processor
- Role: payment processor for TextSend's subscriptions (Stripe, Inc.), acting as an independent controller of payment data. Stripe is not a TextSend sub-processor.
- Purpose: holds subscription, customer and invoice records in TextSend's Stripe account, connected to the Zendesk Marketplace, and processes the payments.
- Data categories: billing contact and subscription records (plan, trial, payment status, invoices) and the payment details you enter at checkout. TextSend does not receive or store card details.
- Region: United States.
- Notes: see the terms of service.
4. Twilio: not a TextSend sub-processor
- Role: your own contracted vendor. Twilio is not a TextSend sub-processor.
- Purpose: sends and receives your SMS/MMS traffic and delivery-status callbacks.
- Data categories: message bodies, MMS media, and phone numbers pass through your own Twilio account, under your own agreement and billing relationship with Twilio.
- Region: your own Twilio account, under your existing Twilio contract. TextSend does not choose or control this.
- Notes: you contract directly with Twilio. TextSend holds only the Twilio Account SID and Auth Token you provide, in its secret store, to operate your own account on your instruction.
5. Notification of changes
TextSend will email customers at least 30 days before a new sub-processor begins processing customer data, and will add it to this page at the same time.
